South Queensferry Registry Office Wedding

South Queensferry Wedding. My second wedding of 2014 took place at a new venue for myself, South Queensferry Registry Office. I absolutely love South Queensferry, I think it’s such a lovely area with it’s seafront, it’s pier, it’s spectacular backdrop with the forth road and especially the rail bridge but I also love all of the little pubs and shops that adorn this area.

I’m a country boy at heart and this is one of the few very local areas near where I live that give me a real country living kind of feel.

This wedding had been originally planned to take place in December but due to certain circumstances it was delayed until the beginning of February which at least in terms of the weather worked out really well. December was pretty miserable (cold/wet/etc) and even though the day of the wedding was still reasonably cold we had really beautiful sunshine and at the time of the wedding it was the warmest day of the year.

As part of the photography plan I had been in discussion with the couple about possible venues for taking photographs. I had suggested going to a few local spots like Lauriston Castle but getting a permit seemed to be quite difficult so we ended up going over to Blackness Castle to take a few photos. This wedding was quite a short booking, just several hours, but in that time we got some preparation shots done, photos around the hotel they stayed at (Hawes Inn), photos at a castle a good few miles away, photos of the ceremony and photos around South Queensferry itself.

As mentioned South Queensferry Registry Office is a new venue for me and it’s a really nice little venue. I’ve photographed dozens of weddings at Lothian Chambers so it was good to see a contrasting location and both offer equally fantastic backdrops. Lothian Chambers is of course in the centre of Edinburgh’s Old Town with it’s really beautiful architecture but South Queensferry has the Forth of Firth and the brides as a backdrop.
