My first wedding of 2019 took place at my all time favourite venue, the Rowantree (well, along with Caves next door but same company/venue). Normally I get to a wedding at the Rowantree and I’m comfortable working there at first but by the time we get to the evening it’s absolutely roasting. This brilliant wedding for Nicola and Stuart took place ten days after I got back from Thailand so not only was the temperature at the venue absolutely perfect for me, I was also really excited to kick start 2019 with a wedding at the Rowantree.
Nicola and Stuart, who are originally from the UK but live in Australia, flew back here for their wedding and they were an absolute delight to work with. With their wedding taking place in early January and the nights drawing in really early, we decided it best to do the outdoor photos first then the wedding ceremony after and this worked out perfectly. We met outside Camera Obscura right at the top of the Royal Mile then proceeded to take photos in the local area and this took about 30 minutes but was perfect. We got in several locations, one was sadly closed for the winter, but the outdoor photos look great and then we headed off to the venue.
We met up with some of the wedding party on the way and one chap, and I have to give him massive respect, wore an Irn-Bru themed kilt (Irn Bru sporran and socks at least). The wedding itself took around 30 minutes which is normal for the Rowantree then we did some group shots on the stage and the rest of the day was lots of candid photography with some extra group shots and some posing later on.
Nicola and Stuart were kind enough to feed me on the day so thank you for that(!) and I really enjoyed the whole day. So that’s my first wedding of 2019 done, I’ve got a fair few weddings to photograph this year which I can’t wait to share and also lots of new business ventures going on which I’ll share either here or on my original website: https://chrisradleyphotography.com at some point.
