Rowantree Caves Wedding
My last two weddings of 2020 took place on the same day. In the morning I photographed a wedding for Claire and Fiona at City Chambers and then early afternoon I photographed a wedding for Rowantree Caves Wedding for Stephen and Jamie.
Now I usually try not to photograph two weddings in the same day but both couples were great to talk to before the wedding an the venues were literally just a couple streets apart from each other so I was definitely up for it.
As with the first wedding, Stephen and Jamie’s wedding was really great, everyone was absolutely lovely to work with, but it was still a bit strange due to the Covid-19 social distancing measures in place. I completely understand the need for this and I wore my mask all of the time in the venue (which was pretty hard work as the venue is really hot inside and I often have to shout at people) but it still feels odd photographing a wedding with people being made to keep apart.
Still, Stephen and Jamie’s wedding was good fun. Both of them were hesitant at hiring a photographer as they’re both very camera-shy but at a venue like the Rowantree you really do need someone who knows how to deal with the lighting. Not only that, you really need to hire a photographer as we know how to capture so much from so many different spots as well as instruct people what to do. We’re professionals for a reason.
So for their Rowantree Caves Wedding I started just before the ceremony. I took photos of the ceremony, group shots afterwards then we headed into Old Town to take photos at a couple different locations. Then back to the venue, photos of people mingling, meal then evening photos.
This Rowantree Caves Wedding was really fun, but I can’t wait for social distance measures being removed in the future.
