Leith Registrars Office Wedding

Leith Registrars Office Wedding. Over the last ten years I’ve photographed dozens and dozens of weddings at Lothian Chambers with the occasional registry office wedding elsewhere but one venue I’ve never even been to before is Leith Registrars Office. Lothian Chambers was always the more popular venue, especially due to it’s awesome location right in the centre of Edinburgh’s Old Town but Leith has it’s own character and has some really great photo spots but most importantly Leith Registrars Office looks really awesome on both the inside and outside.

I’m sure you can find out the history of the venue from Googling it and on the day we were compromised by a few things. First of all the weather in the morning was really nice but literally just as I arrived (early) at the venue it started raining and it only got worse). There’s a passageway to the side of the main entrance which is really photogenic but the other compromise was the Hidden Doors Festival was taking place (think lots of contemporary art and music gigs) so we couldn’t take photos there which was annoying. In the first photo below behind Graham you can see it’s all blocked off which is a shame as it’s really photogenic.

So it was an interesting wedding, Cara and Graham were awesome to work with, a lot of fun and really genuinely nice people. We had originally planned to take photos of the wedding then head over to the Newhaven area of Edinburgh which was a lovely harbour and park and take photos of Cara, Graham and their dog, but with the weather this was a definite no-go. I’m not obligated to do reshoots or anything but I genuinely feel bad for people if their big days are halted by unforeseen events and I’m shooting their wedding reception at the Rowantree this September (same day as a wedding at the castle so it’s gong to be a LONG day) but I offered and they accepted to do their Newhaven photos a bit later this year. Frankly I can’t wait, I think the photos are going to look awesome.

So that’s it from this Leith Registrars Office Wedding. It was short, sweet, funny, everyone was awesome and the venue looks great. Can’t wait to photograph another wedding there.
