London Registry Office Wedding. The title of this post is slightly misleading as this was photographed in Edinburgh in a venue that no longer exists, but I thought this would be a good way of introducing myself to London with one of my all time favourite weddings. As a family we decided it was time to move on from Edinburgh and I now live in Barnes, South West London.
As mentioned this was photographed in Edinburgh at what used to be Lothian Chambers and is now the French consulate. Sophie, who is from Edinburgh, and Saul who is from the USA, met in China, live in the USA and decided to get married in Edinburgh. As with many couples, I didn’t meet them beforehand, so as a photographer and I guess a couple, you’re almost unsure what to expect, but Sophie and Saul are easily one of the most awesome couples I have worked with.
I really like wedding parties that are willing to have a lot of fun. I work in a fun relaxed way and I really love it when couples are super relaxed and up for having some fun. This makes my job easier, the couples more comfortable and indeed their whole wedding party and the day itself more relaxed.
There were 80 people at the wedding, so a good sized wedding, but everyone was really nice and really well behaved so my day was really easy. A couple things that we did a bit differently were capturing a first look shot. We arranged to do this in the square in front of the Writers Museum and normally this square is quite quiet but on their day it was really busy so there was absolutely no way of capturing a whole sequence of shots without a few tourists in but it didn’t matter. The other thing we did, at my suggestion, was a receiving line. Because of the first look shot, we ended up doing all the couple’s shots before the wedding (could more couples please do this!) so I suggested doing a receiving line at the entrance to the City of Edinburgh suite and it was really worthwhile.
There are way more photos here than I would normally share but if you like what you see and you’re looking for a wedding photographer anywhere in London, please get in touch here.
