Dunbars Close Garden Wedding

So, my first post Covid-19 lockdown wedding. It’s been a long time coming!

A couple years ago I was due to photograph my first wedding at Dunbars Close which is a lovely little garden located in the Canongate area of Edinburgh. On the day of that wedding we were suffering from the Beast of the East weatherfront and that wedding was moved to the bottom of Arthurs Seat (that was a fantastic wedding btw).

Today’s wedding was originally due to be photographed at City Chambers but it had been moved to Dunbars Close which would allow lots of social distancing and in typical fashion we had pretty awful weather during the ceremony (cleared immediately after, crap!), but Vanya and Fraser, who booked me for this wedding were absolutely lovely to work with. Incidentally their original wedding was due to take place in April but thankfully they made it to this wedding, albeit with a much smaller wedding party than originally planned.

Because of the move of wedding venue, the location, the weather and also Vanya and Fraser being extremely camera shy, I only worked with them for around 45 minutes but it was fantastic to meet such a lovely couple and also great to be out photographing people again.

These last few months have been interesting, to say the least. I had a few weddings booked for both the easter and summer but these have all been shifted to either later this year or next year. As you may know I also photograph lots of cars under the guise of my other website Chris Radley Photography. This has naturally died off completely. I also photograph lots of properties under the guise of another website; BNB Media. I was starting to get quite busy then lockdown happened and all of my work died.

So from April onwards my time was spent home schooling my daughter, finishing off my degree and also working on my web design business (yes, I do a lot of things! (and frankly I love it!)). I’ve also spent a lot of time working on my wife’s business, setting her up with a product making line, working on her websiite, helping with marketing etc and I’ve spent a lot of time learning more coding which would have been otherwise impossible if I was working and will be 100% beneficial for my website business.

So a few months at home, one or two jobs dotted around but otherwise dead but photographing Vanya and Fraser’s wedding was an absolute joy. They were absolutely lovely and it was an absolute joy to be out photographing people again.

Sadly at this point, the wedding industry is still pretty dead but I do have a wedding coming up in August which I’m excited about then hopefully things will pick up this autumn. Can’t wait to share more weddings!
