Duddingston Golf Club Wedding

Duddingston Golf Club Wedding. One of the weddings that I shot in the latter half of 2015 but never got around to blogging (blogging wasn’t really my forte in 2015) was this wedding at Duddingston Golf Club. I knew the bride Kim through some work I was doing back in those days. I used to do quite a lot of car photography for the Eastern Western car group here in Edinburgh and I had photographed a wedding for Craig and Sarah at Bruntsfield Hotel the previous year. Craig is a salesman at one of their branches and he recommended me to Kim and that’s how I got the booking.

Duddingston Golf Club is a really good venue to take wedding photographs at. The grounds, especially in front of the golf course, are really lovely and the building is full of lots of natural light. Unfortunately every time I have photographed a wedding at the venue the shutter the room off with curtains so what could be a really bright, open and beautiful room is a bit dark and dingy but on the other side if the curtains were open there would be less privacy and there’s a car park and golf club shop directly in front of where the couples get married.

On the day I was hired from morning preparation shots to the first dance (although I usually hang around for a few dances). I went to Kim’s parents’ house where I took preparation shots and I had an assistant for this as well. Kirstin, who I went to University with to study photography, is a full time mother and very occasional photographer (shame as she’s brilliant at children’s photos), was asked to photograph a relative’s wedding and she was really scared so asked if she could tag along to a wedding with me. Kirstin stayed until the wedding breakfast in the mid afternoon and although she wasn’t there the whole day it was really nice to have some friendly company on the day. I’m pretty friendly with quite a few of the evening wedding guests but of course it’s a different kind of friendly.

On the day we had the most stunning weather, warm, sunny, blue skies, absolutely beautiful so photographing their wedding was a real pleasure. I’ve decided for this post to focus more on couples shots and a couple funny shots rather than ceremony photos but hopefully this blog post will give you a good idea of what a wedding at Duddingston Golf Club looks like. Hope you like the photos below.
