Dome Edinburgh Wedding. I keep saying in my blog posts that I just photographed a wedding in one of the most beautiful venues in Edinburgh but just a couple of weeks ago I really did photograph a wedding at one of the most beautiful venues, in this case, the Dome. The Dome sits on the East side of Princes Street and features a rather spectacular dome (hence the name) above the restaurant/bar area and it looks quite sensational.
Jim, who is originally from Scotland, and Candace booked me for their small wedding at the Dome and it was really cool as we did things in a different order. First of all, I think the back story with Jim is quite interesting. We’ve had a really miserable winter here in Edinburgh and if you check through this website, in early March I photographed a wedding during a snow storm which we lovingly (well with hate) called the Beast From the East. Jim 20 years ago grew sick of the weather here in Scotland so after a holiday somewhere hot he called it quits and moved to California. Incidentally, Liv and I are thinking about doing the same thing in maybe the next 3-5 years. She’s from a hot country and we’re both sick of the weather here plus with the kinds of work, we do we can live almost anywhere we want.
So Jim and Candace decided to come back to Scotland and have a small wedding at the Dome. Maybe it was because they wanted to catch up with friends or maybe it was a Sunday thing (incidentally this was only my 2nd or 3rd ever Sunday wedding) they decided they wanted to do “their” photos with their kids before the wedding and then after the wedding, rather than have a formal dinner, they just had lots of canapes and drinks etc. A pretty nice way to spend a Sunday!
