Just a couple blog posts ago I blogged an absolutely fantastic wedding for Simon and Fiona at St Marys Star of the Sea Church and Cormiston Farm in Biggar. I was booked by Simon and Fiona via a referral from Louise and Jevan who’s wedding I’m photographing next month (September).
When Louise and Jevan booked me last year one of the things we discussed was doing a pre shoot and with their wedding just a month away it was time for their pre shoot. We discussed locations for their pre shoot and decided we would go to several locations including Dean Village (always a favourite), Lauriston Castle and South Queensferry.
I suggest Dean Village as it’s such a beautiful spot. I’ve raved about Dean before but considering it’s just a five minute walk from the city centre you really do feel like you’re in the middle of the country. Depending on where you are you can barely hear any traffic (something I’m going to rant about in a minute), there’s the river running through and it’s just lovely. It’s also almost completely clear of tourists.
Lauriston Castle is one of my favourite spots in Edinburgh. Everyone comes to Edinburgh and goes “wooh, Edinburgh Castle” but it’s for this reason Edinburgh Catle is so terrible. There are many castles around Scotland that are so much more beautiful and interesting than Edinburgh Castle and also importantly, for working photographers like myself, have a lot less tourists.
The final spot was South Queensferry. Jevan is soon going to take part in the Forth Rail Bridge abseil (nuts!) and wanted to take some photos with the bridge in the background. Cool!
Anyway, back to this shoot. Loved it. Jevan and Louise were really great to work with. They both seemed really comfortable in front of the camera and I really thing this shows in the photos. I really can’t wait for their wedding in just a few weeks time.
