Dalhousie Castle Wedding

November 27, 2012

Dalhousie Castle Wedding. Ever since I moved to Edinburgh one of the venues I’ve been really desperate photograph is Dalhousie Castle. I’ve had the great pleasure of shooting at many venues throughout the Edinburgh area and further, including Prestonfield House, Marriot Dalmahoy, Pollack Halls, Houston House and many more but I absolutely love castle weddings.

Castle weddings are often a pain in the backside as they can be really dark but Dalhousie Castle has a surprisingly decent amount of light inside and combined with the architecture inside and outside it really is a dream venue.

So you would think that with shooting a wedding at this venue I would have been really desperate to blog it and I have, but even though I photographed this wedding in September it’s only now that I’ve found a little time to update my blog with this wedding.

Shannon and Adam flew in from Canada for their wedding and with it being a really small party of just seven it was a really intimate affair. While I love big weddings for their big party atmosphere I also really love small weddings as I get to spend a lot of time with couples. Shannon and Adam, just like all of the couples I’ve worked with from the USA/Canada were absolutely lovely. In fact everyone from the wedding party was incredibly nice and Liv has since declared to me that she wants to move to either the US or Canada in the future.

But back to the wedding it turned out to be quite a short wedding (at least for myself) but was an absolute blast all the way through. I did some preparation shots mainly with Shannon but also a few with Adam, photographed the ceremony, took a load of couples photos in the grounds and then took a few captures of the cutting the cake and people sitting at their dinner table in the Dungeon restaurant. All in all I took photographs for around four hours but this was one of my favourite weddings of the year.

Below are just a few of my favourite captures from this fantastic wedding.
