City Chambers Black Ivy

In the last month I’ve photographed four weddings, three at City Chambers and one at Queensferry Registrars Office, the latter of which I’ll share in the next few days.

The first wedding was supposed to take place in City Chambers but was moved to Dunbars Close Gardens. This is the second wedding, the third had a photoshoot in Holyrood Park and again Queensferry Registrars Office is to come.

This wedding was booked just a couple weeks before the day. I know a lot of wedding plans have changed for a lot of couples, and I’m not entirely sure what Hana and Michael’s original plans were (if there were) but the booking came through a friend of Hana and Michael. This friend, Pikwa, used to work with my wife in the hospitality industry.

For this wedding I took photos in City Chambers itself, followed by photos in Old Town and we ended up in the Black Ivy in Marchmont. Nowadays I tend to walk to weddings if they’re in town but usually I’m a bit tired at the end of weddings. The Black Ivy is literally two streets away from where I live so that was awesome. I’ve only been in the Black Ivy a couple times for drinks but it’s a really beautiful venue in a great location.

This was a really fun wedding to shoot. It was great to really get back to the kind of Old Town/City Chambers/Registry Office wedding I love shooting. This involves a small party, lots of moving around, lots of locations, lots of laughs, and of course lots of photos.
