It’s amazing how time flies but five years ago I photographed my first and only, until now, wedding at Ballathie House Hotel just outside of Perth. I loved how it was a really beautiful side with really lovely grounds, the staff were really friendly and I also loved that it was an outdoor wedding.
Now this wedding for Takayo and Ryan had a church wedding and thankfully it was indoors as on the day it was really windy and cold, but everything else about the wedding was the same, beautiful hotel, great staff, great food and just a really great venue for having a wedding.
And Takayo and Ryan’s wedding was a lot of fun to photograph. Not only were they both absolutely lovely and super friendly to work with it was a really interesting mixture of cultures as Ryan is Scottish but Takayo and her family originate from Japan, so we had the Scottish venue and most of the people of course were Scottish, but then the Japanese contingency brought in their elements, for example, the origami table details and the sake drum and the wedding were great.
It was also good to do a church wedding again. I seem to very rarely photograph church weddings but they’re good fun to capture and I always love that architectural background for photos. So all in all this was a great wedding, Takayo, Ryan and all of the guests I spoke to were a delight, the venue looked great, it was fun to photograph a church ceremony and the weather was great. I also took the drone with me and had a wee fly-around during the wedding meal. The last three photos in this article were taken with a drone.
